Kamakura

Kamakura is a coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture, just under an hour south of Tokyo.
Kamakura is a small city and an extremely popular tourist destination. Sometimes referred to as the Kyoto of Eastern Japan, Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments. In addition, Kamakura's sand beaches attract very large crowds during summer.
When in Kamkura you must visit the famous Great Buddha statue. The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which stands on the grounds of Kotokuin Temple. With a height of 11.4 meters, it is second tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, surpassed only by the statue in Nara's Todaiji Temple. With a very reasonable fee of ¥200 to access the statue it is a great photo opportunity for you & a great way of learning about Japanese culture.
